Juniper Beri

Scars and Marks:
Her skin is an inhuman dark gray color, no longer the warm tan she used to bear. All of her scars seem to be ringed in the same colors as the intricate magic tattoo that spirals out from her right palm. These markings glow faintly, with a pale bluish-purple hue reminiscent of her namesake juniper berries. At her shoulder, while the pattern remains the same, parts of it change from purple to a pastel seafoam green. Further along, once it reaches her face, lower torso, and the left side of her body, small sections are a bright sort of magenta. This pattern circles her entire body like a chain, no limb untouched.

Scratches spread across her nose and mouth, from some unknown animal attack in her youth. Dense freckles cover her face, shoulders, arms, and the rest of her skin more sparsely. Burn scars cross her legs and back, and left palm. There is a clear arrow wound in her left shoulder, with a scarred cut around it that doesn't seem like it healed quite like it should have.

A set of long gash scars streak across her chest, from the claws of an Osfiri she did not dodge in time.

More often than not, she has bruises, and the occasional bite marks, on her arms and chest. While the bites are usually that of her wolves, sometimes there is a sharper welt from the beak or talons of her griffon.

Sometimes, with strenuous work or exercise, she has trouble breathing. Using a bow is likewise difficult, with obvious soreness around her left shoulder and collarbone that keeps her from firing more than a few shots.

Small burns from an acid-like substance spatter her forearms and the front of her neck, as well as dozens of tiny puncture marks that mostly mark her back and arms. A line circles her left wrist, raised up slightly from the rest of the skin. It's smooth, almost like the wrist had been sliced through- but her hand is very much still present.

The most unusual injury she boasts is on her left leg. Once, it was punctured by a venomous devil's scorpion-like stinger... And subsequently amputated in a rush to prevent the venom from taking more than just a leg. For around five years she lived with this, her leg missing just above the knee. Then she met a sprite who granted wishes, and was able to wish for it back... There was a catch: The newly remade leg was only the size of a baby's, brand new. After a long time and much magical effort, she aged it back to adult size. It is unusually clear of blemishes and scar-free compared to the rest of her body, besides the ring around her thigh where it was formerly cut off. It is still gray and Wightly, despite the otherwise pristine appearance- her soul could not be altered by the genie's magic, after all.

Gear:
Always nearby, but usually in her hands, is a large tree branch- the kind one would use to safely climb up with, were it still attached to a tree trunk. It appears raw and unaltered, a gnarled three meters of maple wood. It is thick and rather heavy, and moss creeps onto it from whenever it is given time to rest on the ground. The top is club-like, and the bottom tapers to a solid point.

While she no longer wears it, somewhere in her possessions is a wooden prosthetic leg. It was attached by a belt around her hips and remaining thigh, cradling the limb in a bed of soft leather and fur for protection. The leg itself is made entirely of wood, otherwise, and the knee is fashioned into a simplistic doll-like joint, the parts fitted snugly to keep it from bending while she walks on it. It is not entirely human-shaped, however. The foot and calf of the false limb take on a gentle backward arch, emulating the digitigrade bend of common animal hindlegs. It is not a dramatic bend, but enough to look unusual- especially paired with the shape of a puma paw it tapers down to.

She keeps a quiver at home, stocked well with four types of arrows: mostly the standard stone or metal-tipped, but also a small set with heads of carved bone, another set with serrated and dangerous-looking tips, and then another large number of absolutely vicious-looking arrows with heads made from the teeth of Sinister Scuttlers. A couple of individual, unique arrows hide among the rest, hard to notice. She does not carry a bow to go with it, oddly, on the rare occasion she takes it out at all.

She carries a number of pouches and pockets hanging among her skirts, containing things like notes, trail rations, and utensils for writing or drawing. At least one of these is treated with beeswax to be waterproof.

A large tome hangs, belted shut, off of one hip. This book is thick and appears bound in leather, but the front cover is actually a narrow wooden box. A flap opens on the front to access the storage space, and this is where Juniper keeps an assortment of valuable, enchantable gemstones.
The rest of the book contains pages and pages of notes on everything she's studied in magic, including summaries of spells she's created and theories on ones she's yet to perfect. The further one reads, the more chaotic the pages become, eventually being nearly unintelligible between her scrawled handwriting, sketches in every open space, and inability to keep anything in straight lines. Words are written in every possible direction around drawing after drawing. Most are anatomy or botany like, but some are purely artwork. The degradation of her mind as she transitioned into Wightism is obvious and unsettling in her grimoire.

She wears a number of necklaces. One is a simple steel chain, gilded in silver, with a teardrop-shaped emerald that hangs point-down. It is an obvious tell of an Artesian druid, a spiritual pendulum.
The other necklace is a string of ivory beads, made from a Dire Boar's tusk. Each bead is intricately carved with tiny roses and thorns, and the largest, center bead is in a teardrop shape. That one depicts a large tree, surrounded by a forest of smaller ones. The whole piece was clearly made with an incredible amount of love and attention. Juniper is quite protective of this one.
Another one is her druid totem, a cougar made of pale ash wood, with little purple beads as its eyes. It hangs by its tail from a simple cord.

Personality:
Stubborn, but usually respectful. She seems to care too much and too little at the same time; afraid to get involved with people, but also easily worrying about them. She claims to be a loner, but she does enjoy the company of people she's come to know and trust. Crowds make her uneasy, however, and she tends to avoid them; such as leaving parties early or remaining outside of the taverns at peak hours, rather than in them- even in poor weather.
She has a great deal of respect for the environment, taking care not to waste her kills or cause excessive damage to plant life. She is well aware that the wild is dangerous, and does not seek to control it, but to live alongside it- and, often, encourage it to be just as wild as it deserves.
She suffers some terrible social anxiety, and has a tendency to flee from perceived problems or situations that have yet to even arise with people she cares about. Typically, this ends up getting her into a worse situation than what she thought was going to happen, and because of that she has learned to resist that pull and make sure that she is not welcome before disappearing.
She definitely has temper issues, and is violently protective of those she's deemed important. She tends to focus her angry, adrenaline-fueled energy into magic, resulting in somewhat chaotic and unorthodox attacks. Despite that, she had been trying very hard to keep her emotions- the anger, anxiety, and depressive thoughts that always simmer in the back of her mind- under control. It still leaked out when she was under unusual amounts of stress, and it tended to be explosive when doing so.
Since Wightism has taken hold, it's next to impossible for her to truly control herself, any longer... as much as she might have tried, before. She cannot resist showing her emotions, and her magic responds in kind. Usually she subconsciously calls the nearest plants even closer, as if wanting to hide within their leaves, but if she is infuriated, she is apt to send insects or animals chasing after whoever she thinks is to blame. Often, she will get upset but cannot place any blame... So she wildly shifts through emotional thoughts, not settling, and can cause random effects to happen with her own uncertainty.
